more people running around inside computers......but no more "dead" rock stars fighting the undead
A Tron sequel is in the works. I'm interested in seeing how big budget computer effects will be handled in a sequel to the movie that pretty much started it all. I really like "Tron." It still looks good, Jeff Bridges is the man, and the soundtrack is great. And the lightbike scene is still one of my favorite action sequences in the movies.
In other sequel news, Bruce Campbell will not be reprising his role as the elderly Elvis Presley in the proposed follow-up "Bubba Ho-Tep." I wouldn't blame you if you missed this one, it's a bit obscure. The film centered around Elvis living in a nursing home that is under siege by an Egyptian mummy that sucks out the souls of the convalescent through their butts when they go to the bathroom. Oh, and Elvis' sidekick is JFK (his brain was transplanted by the CIA and placed in the body of a black man played by Ossie Davis). It's a really freaking weird movie, but I liked it. Campbell really nailed Elvis, even though he didn't perform any songs (the man would have been in his seventies). The new film would have been a prequel titled "Bubba Nosferatu and the Curse of the She-Vampires." It's probably dead in the water without Campbell as Elvis. I can't say that I'm sad to hear this one might not happen. It was good as a one-off oddity, but I really wasn't left wondering what other supernatural enemies Elvis had battled during his years underground.
